Good Eats!

I love to cook, which is good, because I love to eat! Here are some of the things I like to make.

Some Recipes can be found on the Burcham Farm Test Kitchen Page!

Johnny's Chili
Johnny's Chili
A delicious dish based on a recipe from our insurance man, John Lannan. A hint of lime adds unique flavor.

fried green tomatoes
Fried Green Tomatoes

Chicken Salad
Strawberry Mango Chicken Salad
This is one of Bill's favorite dishes. The apricot-glazed chicken sits atop a spring salad mix, topped with almond slivers, dried cranberries, strawberries, mangoes and a sweet balsamic vinaigrette.

Brown Sugar Cream Pie
Brown Sugar Cream Pie
Sugar Cream Pie is the unofficial Indiana state pie - this is sugar cream pie with a twist - brown sugar!

fruit bouquet
Holiday Fruit Bouquet
This is a great arrangement to take to holiday parties. It's a nice healthy alternative to all the candy, fudge, and cookies.

monkey bread
Monkey Bread
Always a hit, monkey bread, or "pull apart bread," is delicious and easy to make!

butternut squash soup
Butternut Squash Soup
Bill and I had lunch at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in the fall. We had a delicious butternut squash soup. I decided to try it at home. Mine was good, but I'm still perfecting it. You'll probably see it later in the test kitchen.

Cake
Cake!
I took a cake decorating class several years ago, and still like to make and decorate cakes occassionally.

Recipe for Successful House Remodel:

1 house in desperate need of repairs
1 large portion of determination
1 huge bank account (or Lowe's account, in our case)
2 ginormous loads of patience
Sprinkle in lots of friends, family and new neighbors willing to help out; add some blood, sweat and tears (literally)
Mix all together and simmer until done - or at least medium will. We have found that rehabbing an old house is never really done.
