Manny

Manny joined the farm after one of our friends called and said that their neighbors had moved away and left their cat behind. A sweet gal (Tina) was feeding him and taking care of him, but they really wanted to find a good home for him. We agreed to take him. We had been wanting a barn cat.

Manny came to us on a fall day when the winds of change were starting to feel wintry. Tina had kindly taken him to have him neutered and had brought him up to date on all his shots. She even brought some food for him. Manny was the best barn cat I could have asked for. He was sweet, he was a good mouser, he was the best cuddler. He had the cutest pink nose. I loved him.

Sometimes Manny would go on adventures and be gone for a day or so. So I wasn't too worried in September 2007 when he didn't show up one morning. But then morning turned into afternoon and afternoon turned into evening. I looked everywhere for him. I walked the fields, I walked around the perimeter of the yard, I searched every inch of the barn. I got up early every day for 4 days and walked to the barn hoping to find him. No Manny. I was mowing the grass a few days later and found evidence that Manny had been attacked by a coyote. I was devasted, heartbroken. I cried every day for two weeks and I still cry sometimes...like now..writing this.

Rest in Peace, little friend. I still miss you!
